Whenever someone says “you clearly only criticize rich people because you’re jealous” it tells me that they have no idea what it’s like to actually care about other people in ways that don’t immediately benefit themselves.
The only reason I’d ever want a billion dollars, like any normal person, is to help other people with it, which would expend almost all of it pretty quickly. That’s why all existing billionaires are selfish, destructive parasites: good people don’t become or remain that rich.
Tumblr wants to take away all adult content on the platform, abandoning a large majority of it’s userbase which uses the site for this exact matter. Please sign the above petition if you would like to keep tumblr the way it is. They need to be shown that they will lose a HUGE amount of their traffic if they’re too carry this through.
In response to the NSFW ban being enacted by Tumblr Staff, on December 17th 2018 I propose that we all log off of our Tumblr accounts for 24 hours.
The lack of respect and communication between staff and users is stark. Users have been begging staff to delete the porn bot outbreak, which has plagued the website for well over a year. The porn bots oftentimes send people asks and messages, trying to get them to go to a website full of viruses. They also spam advertisements on others posts.
Users have also begged that Tumblr ban neo-nazis, child porn, and pedophiles, all which run rampant on the site. The site/app got so bad that it was taken off the app store.
However, instead of answering the users, Tumblr has instead taken the liberty to ban all NSFW content, regardless of age. But users have already run into issues of their SFW content being marked as sensitive and being flagged as NSFW, not allowing them to share their work.
Not only does this discriminate again content creators, but it also discriminates against sex workers. Disgustingly, the ban will be enacted on December 17 which is also International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers.
This ban is disgusting, and while I (and plenty of others) welcome porn bots and child porn being banned, the Tumblr filtration system is broken. It tags artistic work’s nipples as NSFW (when it is art), it tags SFW art as NSFW (when it is not), and does not stop the porn bots, neo-nazis and dozens of other issues.
This ban is discriminatory. This ban is ineffective. This ban is unacceptable.
To protest, log off of your Tumblr account for the entirety of November 17th. Log off at 12 am EST or 9PM PST and stay off for 24 hours. Don’t post. Don’t log on. Don’t even visit the website. Don’t give them that sweet ad revenue.
Tumblr’s stock has already taken a hard hit. Let’s make it tank. Maybe then they will listen to the users.

One of my tech colleagues had an anti-vaxxer come in to his clinic, with pamphlets about how her dog supposedly got autism from getting him vaccinated and all her supporting evidence, and tried to cover all their actual informational pamphlets with them. She was escorted out and they threw away every piece of her garbage they could find. I haven’t had any run-ins with idiots like this myself and I really hope it stays that way.
The really sad thing is, once the bullshit natural remedy crowds reach actual breeders, entire kennels of dogs end up dropping dead from 100% preventable diseases.
I’m talking dozens of animals being wiped out for the want of a 20$ shot. From diseases that never show up in even the shitty puppy mill fed pet store in the mall.
The antivax movement may as well be named the Masque of the Red Death because all it managed to be is a harbinger of plague.

If you’ve never lost a dog to parvo or had to pay to treat one for it (y’all remember when Axl got exposed before he’d had his last round of shots, right) and leave them at a vet’s office for a fucking week or more without getting to see them (for fear of spreading the shit accidentally) talk to someone who has. That way they can punch you in the fucking face and tell you to GET YOUR ANIMALS (AND KIDS) VACCINATED YOU DIPSHIT.
